From the mind of Italian artisan Carlo Scotti, Castello was founded in 1947 with the goal of offering handmade pipes that exude quality in both form and function. Working together with Luigi Radice and Peppino Ascorti, the three would serve as key innovators in defining Italian neoclassical pipe design. This Billiard from Castello is a refined showcase of the Italian marque's shaping style. It features a pert, upright bowl at the fore of the composition, with straight walls rising from the firm heel toward the flat rim. Out back, a sturdy shank carries a gradual taper through a sleek stem, the arrangement lending a touch more visual weight to the bowl. Castello's craggy Sea Rock rustication dresses the stummel, its rugged texture displayed beneath a rich chestnut stain, with the rim stained in a darker hue for a fumed look.
