Claudio Cavicchi: Smooth Freehand with Black Palm (CCC)

Depending on how it's cut, black palm can display a unique, freckled pattern that, to my eye, looks a bit like the seeds of a kiwi. It surely makes for a striking accent contrasted against the crisp cross grain of this Cavicchi Freehand. Forward-urging atop a consistently curved underside, the bowl is neatly paneled on both flanks, extending all the way down through the shank. The grain orientation is stunning as a result, and the in hand feel is sublime thanks to the curling transition.
