Claudio Cavicchi: Brown Sandblasted Bent Dublin
Product Number: 002-400-2133
Falling somewhere between a Horn and a bent Dublin, this piece from Claudio Cavicchi is defined by its easy transition, from out of which flares a robust, palm-filling bowl. And while Claudio is revered for his smooth finishes, he's certainly capable of producing sandblasted briars with immaculate grain as this piece can attest to. Dressed in an earthy brown stain, the sandblast has coaxed out rippling waves of cross grain along the flanks and specks of blasted birdseye fore and aft. The rim has been left smooth, stained a light chestnut hue that showcases streaks of grain across its wide surface area. Along with the finish, I love the accent Claudio incorporated on this piece. The shank subtly flares out into its smoothly rounded face while a briar disc accent wraps around the stem base, mimicking the shank face's shaping. Truly impressive work.- Jeffery Sitts
