Claudio Cavicchi: Bologna 2020 Two Pipe Set with Claudio Albieri Leather Presentation Box (04/05) Tobacco Pipe

In their third year of collaboration, Claudio Cavicchi and Claudio Albieri present five new two-pipe sets complete with leather display boxes. Each of the five sets features a pair of pipes, one in a smooth finish and the other sandblasted, stamped "Bologna 2020" as an homage to Cavicchi's hometown, with the set seen here being serialized as number four of five.

Carved by Claudio Cavicchi, this pair showcases an affable bent Apple shape as well as a straight rendition. Graceful and lithe, the shanks are accented by spalted tamarind, juxtaposing its swirling grain patterns against those of the briar stummels. The supple bowls urge forward out of the gentle transitions, the voluptuous bases resting comfortably in hand and tapering slightly toward the rims. The two finishes are Cavicchi's most signature — a smooth, honey-blonde stain highlighting a consistent display of gorgeous flame grain, and a concise sandblast of sand-and-rust tones. They're both beautiful complements of each other, offering the best of straight and bent pipes in stunning finishes that exemplify Cavicchi's superlative aesthetics.

It's only fitting that such an immaculate pair of Italian pipes should be showed off in an Italian-made presentation box of Italian leather. Known for his unparalleled pipe smoking accessories, Claudio Albieri is a longtime friend of Cavicchi and excels at working with supple, high-quality leather. Said material is used to great effect here — each pipe gently and safely displayed in the box fashioned from soft, milk chocolate-hued leather, providing a backdrop that appropriately draws focus to the more vivid hues of the pipes themselves.
