Claudio Cavicchi: Black Sandblasted Bent Egg

Claudio Cavicchi's black sandblast looks good on any pipe, but especially this handsome bent Egg, with the glossy dark stain and ruby undertones accentuating tight stacks of ring grain climbing the bowl. The rim has been left smooth to display birdseye and presents a chamfered, slightly wavey profile. A bit of the Italian neoclassic is present, Cavicchi giving this piece a tall bowl with quite straight sides compared to most Egg shapes, and a swale at the shank transition that looks to be a good place for a finger to perch. A downturned acrylic stem completes the arrangement while managing to keep this pocket-friendly pipe just over five inches.
