Claudio Cavicchi: Brown Smooth Bent Egg with Olivewood

Product Number: 002-400-2464

A more interpretive take on the bent Egg, the curved profile of the bowl in this rendition from Claudio Cavicchi displays a forward-surging posture reminiscent of a Zulu. The design allows for a generous chamber before transitioning to a unique shank that flares into a thrice-ridged triangular shape. I have to believe the stummel's shape was guided by what the Italian carver saw in the wood, as it allows flame grain to be showcased beautifully, especially striking on the right flank. A thin black accent heralds the arrival of a more pronounced olivewood band at the shank end, and a very slightly bent saddle stem of black acrylic provides visual and physical balance.
