Claudio Cavicchi: Brown Sandblasted Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-400-2626
This bent Dublin from Claudio Cavicchi showcases the Italian carver's penchant for robust, neoclassical proportions and muscular shaping. A broad, flaring rim presides over the bowl's taper to the firm heel, which is lent a touch of architectural rigidity thanks to the firm lines of the diamond shank extending through the tight-knit transition. While we often see Cavicchi's Dublin shape with a rounded shank, in this piece, the Italian carver has opted for a diamond shank, its pronounced, solid lines keeping the design stocky and stern. The stummel wears an earthy sanblast that accentuates the natural grain orientation of the briar and coaxes out some rippling waves of growth rings about the bowl, with the rim left smooth and stained a lighter color for a touch of contrast.--Davin Hylton
