Claudio Cavicchi: Smooth Bent Dublin (CCCC) Tobacco Pipe

Marked by a broadly flaring, slightly sloping and inflated rim, this bent Dublin from Claudio Cavicchi is quite the palm-filling piece. The towering bowl presents a forward-ebbing profile and tapers steadily from rim to sweeping heel, the precise lines of which then surge upward through the arcing shank and stem. A nicely flowing pipe, it's assigned four of the carver's "C" stamps, indicating high quality, precise shaping and splendid grain, all of which are evident here. A lightly stained stummel unveils stunning wisps of feathery flame grain on all flanks, made even more conspicuous thanks to the bowl's larger surface area.
