Among the most coveted of Claudio Cavicchi's creations, those rare pipes that earn the Perla designation are second only to his exceptionally rare Diamante pieces. Having honed his craft over the last several decades, Cavicchi is an undisputed master carver, using only hand picked high quality briar and focusing on creating pipes that sit at the intersection of artistry and utility.

This Rhodesian is an eccentric rendition of the traditional shape. The bowl is particularly plump, with an Acorn-like profile, yet still maintains the beadlines of the Rhodesian design. The lower bowl curves gently down to a soft heel and smooth transition to a round shank, flaring at its junction to a comfortably bent acrylic saddle stem, jet-black. As expected from a Perla grade pipe, the grain is phenomenal. Dressed in a deep auburn stain, the stummel boasts a wealth of straight and flame grain around the bowl and shank, while the domed rim is crowned with abundant swirling birdseye. With its impeccable craftsmanship and excellent materials, this pipe is well deserving of Cavicchi's distinguished stamp.
