Claudio Cavicchi: Brown Sandblasted Cutty Tobacco Pipe

Although the heel spur is purely vestigial on many briar Cutties, Claudio Cavicchi has in this case chosen to accentuate it to the point where it becomes essential to maintaining the bowl's visual balance. This in turn has allowed for a more aggressive cant and softer, smoother heel, which without the enlarged spur would have given the pipe an appearance of falling forward. Granted this deft addition, on the other hand, the briar attains a wonderful balance, uniquely dynamic and active, with the additional benefit of being able to showcase Cavicchi's excellent sandblast on more briar, continuing the flow of the auburn stained growth rings across the bowl.
