Claudio Cavicchi: Smooth Bent Dublin (CCCCC) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-400-2896
Claudio Cavicchi's bent Dublin renditions can be quite dramatic, with large, broad bowls, or bombastic curvature dominating profile of the pipe. This is certainly the case with regard to this piece, though its lines are dominated by a gentle ebb and flow, contributing to a fluid composition that is lent a bit of structure thanks to the stem's expansion ring. The bowl is tall and large, rising to nearly two and a half inches in height, sat atop a rounded, pronounced heel and possessed of a jaunty forward cant. The rim is crowned with craggy plateau, its surface lightly sanded to expose some pinpricks of birdseye along its rugged surface. The briar is finished in one of Cavicchi's excellent honeyed stains, the "CCCCC" grade acting as a herald for the lovely flame and straight grain structure that envelops the bowl with many of these striations even crossed with visible growth rings.
