Claudio Cavicchi: Black Sandblasted Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe

One of my favorite aspects about Claudio Cavicchi's signature Black finish is how the Italian carver incorporates a deep burgundy stain underneath the glossy, dark hue. What makes it all the more striking, too, is how much it contrasts against Claudio's other finishes, typically opting for a vivid, honey-blonde contrast or walnut-hued stain. Here, Cavicchi's darkest presentation adorns a bent Dublin, the bowl urging gently forward from out of the easy transition, while a demurely curved saddle stem and gently upturned shank balance the visual weight. The broad rim showcases the most of the aforementioned ruby tinge, its blasted birdseye both texturally and visually enthralling, while the rest of the stummel showcases lovely undulations of rippling ring grain.
