Claudio Cavicchi: Black Sandblasted Bent Billiard with Olivewood Tobacco Pipe

A forward-surging bowl and an active stance define this bent Billiard from Claudio Cavicchi. The bowl cants dramatically at the fore of the composition, while the triangular shank ebbs from the low-set transition and flares into a gently downturned saddle stem, out back. The divergent trajectories of the bowl and shank form a distinctive V-shape above the transition, creating a negative space from which to view the disparate elements of Cavicchi's craftsmanship. The crisp Black sandblast dresses the stummel and coaxes out stacks of growth rings across the flanks of the bowl, save for the rim, which is left smooth and stained a ruby color for contrast. The shank end features an olivewood accent that adds a touch of contrasting warmth to the composition.
