Claudio Cavicchi: Brown Sandblasted Tuban Tobacco Pipe

This is one of only a few Tuban shapes we've received from Claudio Cavicchi, making this robust, less commonly seen piece well-received. The design itself is attributed to German artisan pipe maker Dirk Heinemann, who was exploring nuances of the Rhodesian shape. Here, the forward-surging bowl is rather Horn-like in its disposition despite a stout diameter. A seamless flow through the heel is set along a continuous curve, with the transition accentuating the bowl's thickness, while fetching smooth hardwood accents are interspersed between the Italian carver's rugged, Brown sandblasted briar. Fittingly, stepped rings of briar also adorn the jet-black stem, the bands mirroring those seen at the shank face. Another wonderful composition from the renowned Italian carver.
