Claudio Cavicchi: Brown Sandblasted Bent Egg Tobacco Pipe

While we've seen the bent Egg before from Claudio Cavicchi, this particular iteration represents the shape at its most sinuous from the Italian artisan, with a lively outline that's lent a good deal of verticality as well. Much of this verticality is thanks to the rather high-reaching stretch of shank and stem that lift out from the wide transition, the lengthiness of the shank posing the trim downturn of saddle-oriented black acrylic for comfortable smoking. Balanced at the fore of this shank and stem combination is a tall, forward-urging bowl that flares out to a mid-set waistline before tapering gently into its smooth, dipped rim. Not only does the sweeping build of the bowl's fore make for quite the comfortable fit in hand, but it contributes to the lively charm that this profile possesses, as well as feeding into a handsome undercurve through the stummel that sharpens things up with its touch of angularity. Dressed in one of Claudio's excellent sandblasts and stained a warm, vibrant auburn, this pipe showcases rippling growth rings that radiate through the flanks of the shank and bowl, while the bowl's fore displays a wealth of blasted birdseye.
