Supple and firm, the bowl of this Brandy from Claudio Cavicchi offers a broad base with its rounded heel and acute taper, the slight lift to the heel and gentle forward urge lending it an easy dynamism. Its low-set waist is quite comfortable in hand, with a plumpness present throughout that provides ample contours for the fingers to appreciate. Dressing the stummel here is one of Cavicchi's dark, chestnut stains, revealing fine straitions of flame grain wrapping around most of the bowl and through the flanks of the shank, with birdseye prevalent at the underside. Yes, Claudio is known for his ability to find the best grain possible, as is easily recognizable here. An excellent piece from a prolific Italian artisan with over five decades of experience under his belt.
