A dynamic bit of Italian craftsmanship, this Pick Axe from Claudio Cavicchi features a tall, stout-walled bowl that rises at the fore of an upturned shank and a steeply curved mouthpiece. The pointed, well-defined heel starts just under the transition and marks the bowl's rapid outward expansion toward the rim. The shank-and-stem arrangement's vaulted stance ensures a comfortable smoking posture, its steep angle offsetting the bowl's forward drive in profile. A crisp sandblast dresses the stummel and coaxes out rippling growth rings across the bowl's flanks, while a hardwood accent adorns the junction and offers a touch of contrasting color to the overall composition.
