A unique interpretation of the bent Apple shape, this piece from Claudio Cavvichi boasts a plump, rotund bowl that stands at the fore of a triangular shank and a steeply curved saddle stem. The shank's firm, structural lines add a touch of angularity to the otherwise supple and fluid form, while the shank itself boasts a steady outward flare that draws the eye to the stem, and the smoothly polished accents of briar out back. Like the accents, the rim offers a touch of tactile contrast to the sandblasted stummel, which displays rippling bands of grain across the sides of the bowl and shank.
