One of Italy's finest pipe makers, Claudio Cavicchi has carved pipes for over 40 years and is still going strong. Cavicchi crafts a wide variety of shapes, and each one showcases spectacular grain patterns dressed in his signature smooth and sandblasted finishes. A hand-filling rendition of the Tomato by Claudio Cavicchi, the plump bowl displays dazzling grain that blends from birdseye on the underside, to vertical grain on the bowl, back to birdseye on the rim in mesmerizing succession. Out back, a thick shank helps balance the pipe's weight but leaves visual focus on the robust bowl. Cavicchi uses jet-black acrylic and an olivewood accent to give the rear of this pipe a colorful flourish, an appropriate counterpart to the comprehensive auburn smooth finish on the stummel.
