This Billiard from Claudio Cavicchi is a thoroughly neoclassical take on the form with its bold, bowl-centric sense of proportion. Standing at the fore is a tall, muscular bowl, formed by thick, straight walls reaching high from the firm, rounded heel toward the flat rim. A wide transition gives way to a lean shank, which carries a gradual taper into a jet-black acrylic stem, the arrangement shifting greater visual weight to the front of the composition. Graded four C's out of five, this piece showcases stunning swathes of vertical grain sweeping across the briar in addition to lovely birdseye along the underside and rim, all of which is highlighted beneath a light, honey-blonde finish.
