This sandblasted Acorn from Cavicchi is a fine example of his stellar craftsmanship. The heel juts down below the shank, its aft side forming a sleek curve that extends through the shank and into the demure saddle stem's slight bend. A pool of birdseye swirls around the heel before melting into flickering flame grain that guides the eye through the bowl's subtle flare into the rounded rim. Thick walls encircle a respectable chamber, with the aft wall melding into a mid-set transition. A thin shank grows naturally out of this transition, forming a gentle flare into the junction, which is accented by a slim white ring. The smooth stummel wears a light stain that shows off Cavicchi's eye for attractive grain patterns.
