Claudio Cavicchi: Smooth Bent Dublin with Bamboo (CCCC) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-400-3549

Claudio Cavicchi stamps his pipes with a "C" when he is especially pleased with how the grain quality and orientation came out, and this bent Dublin earned not one but four such "C" stamps. Examining the grain, it's easy to see why, as tight flame striations rise in perfect concert with the bowl's flare. Dressed in Cavicchi's signature honey-blonde stain and smooth finish, the stummel deserves to be turned this way and that, to be admired at length, watching the flames jet toward a rim of natural plateau. The transition lifts the shank to meet a thin black ring, demarcating the beginning of two pale knuckles of bamboo while beginning a smooth wave-like profile that continues all the way to the stem base. The stem is a jet-black acrylic saddle stem with a demure downturn, abbreviated to make room for the long stretch of bamboo, and adds contrast to the light tones of the stummel. While Claudio often eschews the use of alternative mediums, letting the fine grain of his pieces speak for themselves, this pipe is an excellent example of his skill with bamboo and will make a brilliant addition to any collection.
