Claudio Cavicchi is truly a master of his craft, and his ability to coax the best possible grain out of every piece of briar will always astound me. His over 50 years of experience ensures that his pipes are not only beautiful, but also expertly shaped and precisely drilled. This Pot is an impressively robust pipe from the Italian artisan, one that packs a great deal of substance into a rather compact footprint, its just over five inches of length centered entirely on the bowl. Said bowl boasts over two inches of height, and its cylindrical walls are nearly as broad as they are tall, providing plenty of substance to insulate a capacious chamber that makes this pipe perfect for contemplative smoking. Out back, a wide transition gives way to a short, cylindrical shank met swiftly by a sleek saddle stem of black acrylic, further enhancing the visual presence of the bowl. Dressed in one of Cavicchi's rich, walnut-stained smooth finishes, the stummel showcases handsome grain throughout, with dense flame grain encircling the walls and swaths of birdseye through the rim and underside.
