Claudio Cavicchi: Brown Smooth Bent Egg Tobacco Pipe

Claudio Cavicchi is truly a master of his craft, and his ability to coax the best possible grain out of every piece of briar will always astound me. His over 50 years of experience ensures that his pipes are not only beautiful, but expertly shaped and precisely drilled. Cavicchi doesn't often craft the bent Egg shape, though this take on the iconic form is one of his most timeless, with ample curvature through its outline and a distinctly bowl-forward look. The transition is rather tight, and it gives way to a comparatively slim, lifting shank that tapers to meet a smartly curved stem of similarly tapering black acrylic: poising this pipe for comfortable smoking and emphasizing the curves present through the bowl. Said bowl stands on a round heel and grows its walls to a broad, low-set waist before making an arcing taper to the rim, cultivating a comfortable feel in hand and staying true to the standards of its namesake profile. Dressed in one of Cavicchi's rich, walnut-stained smooth finishes, the stummel showcases handsome grain throughout, the bowl and shank wrapped in a pattern of dense flame grain.
