Chris Asteriou: Smooth Bent Brandy (12/16)
Product Number: 002-540-0055
We first saw Chris Asteriou take the stage in 2012 with his beautiful interpretations of classic English shapes, but since then, he's experimented with more contemporary and freehand forms, honing his skills and further developing his style. This bent Brandy is a wonderful example of that time-sharpened, signature aesthetic, featuring smooth, graceful Danish lines in the heel and soft taper of the bowl, yet maintaining a much firmer, more Industrial style in the broad oval shank and saddle mouthpiece — similar to what you might expect from an artisan working within the modern American movement. It's all tied together beautifully through that continuous, arcing gesture of the underside, guiding the eye from the lifting heel to the shank end in one sweeping motion. What's more, this is actually the first Brandy we've seen from Chris. Given what we've seen here today, though, I think I speak for everyone when I say, I hope it's not his last.
