Chris Asteriou: Smooth Bent Egg with Bamboo (29/17) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-540-0070

Chris Asteriou's body of work runs the gamut as far as shaping styles, use of alternative mediums, and degrees of muscularity from piece to piece. While the other piece in today's update of briars from the Greek carver is something far more visually delicate and compact, this bent Egg shape is undeniably substantial, with a forward-canted bowl that comes to a crisp point at the heel, resulting in a silhouette that evokes the look of a rather large bullet. Making use of three pronounced knuckles of honey blonde bamboo and a rearward-flicking saddle stem to balance said bowl, it offers a number of configurations in hand, and the chamber is quite capacious. Finished in warm walnut contrast, licks of flame emanate from the bowl's plateau-kissed heel.
