Chris Asteriou: Sandblasted Vintage Bent Pot with Horn (35/17)
Product Number: 002-540-0071
Between his lithe and tightly-knit Strawberry renditions, Danish-style Acorns, and myriad bamboo-shanked offerings, Chris Asteriou's body of work is no doubt replete with organic whimsicality. He also has a fondness for the classics, and often his more playful pieces can be grounded in a streamlined, even traditional aesthetic. That being said, this weird little fellow still stands out. Informed by an older Sixten-inspired Bo Nordh shape, it exudes something of an old school Danish charm. The cinched, tapering, and flaring bowl and shank lead the eye to the creamy mount of natural horn, the likes of which complement what is a very striking, neatly-stacked display of ring-grain. I'm definitely on board.
