Chris Asteriou: Sandblasted Paneled Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-540-0123
This octagonally paneled Dublin is interestingly enough the very first paneled shape we've received from Chris Asteriou and fits in well with his fondness for classic Anglo-French designs. The Dublin itself is a shape we seldomly see from the Greek carver, but here he has delivered a sturdy, architectural take on the shape chart standard, marked by a striking use of panels. Chris has taken the iconic Foursquare a step further, pairing the eight-sided bowl to a square shank and creating an impressively geometric design with precise line work throughout. It sits as sturdily as any Foursquare, but offers more texture thanks to the added ridgelines about the bowl as well as the crisp sandblast that covers the stummel. And for a classy, understated accent, Asteriou has stained the smooth, gently inflated rim a rich ruby tone. Overall, an exquisite example of Chris's ability to render timeless shapes in fresh, unique ways.
