Chris Asteriou: Sandblasted Rhodesian with Horn Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-540-0229

Talented Greek artisan Chris Asteriou started crafting pipes in 2007, combining his background in industrial design and architecture with his passion for pipe making. His work blends influences from classic Anglo-French traditions and the Freehands of the Danish Fancy movement. What truly sets Asteriou apart, however, is his attention to clean lines, perfect proportions, and flawless engineering, giving his pipes a distinctive character all his own. Asteriou's passion for vintage English and French shapes is evident in his portfolio, which features bold, artisan reinterpretations of classic designs. This particular Rhodesian departs from his usual robust, muscular style, opting instead for a leaner, more graceful form. The domed rim is abbreviated compared to the traditional design, marked by a subtle beadline that starts the rim's taper. The shank features a pinched midsection that tapers from the transition, capped with a horn ferrule that matches the piece's overall dark color palette. The stem includes a matching expansion ring, creating a nice stacking rhythm throughout the aft. For contrast, Asteriou chamfered the inner rim and finished it smooth, creating a nice juxtaposition next to the stummel's textural sandblast.
