About This Pipe
Chris Asteriou stands out in the world of pipe making due to his remarkable versatility. Each Asteriou pipe exemplifies superior craftsmanship, marked by precise engineering and meticulous attention to detail. Asteriou's designs draw from a range of influences, from classic Anglo-French classics to the unique Freehands of Danish pipe making. However, it's his clean line work, keen eye for proportions, and flawless engineering that make his work distinctly his own.
This particular Billiard showcases his command of the classics, presented here in an archetypal profile and a handsome dress-pipe palette. There is a subtle Danish influence in the fore of the design: The bowl is subtly tapered, and the transition is dramatically cheeked, lending the shape a touch of softness. The aft of the profile remains streamlined, taking a pleasing, gradual taper from a thick silver accent toward the bit of the slender stem. The briar is finished in a light sandblast that highlights stacked growth rings along the bowl's flanks, while the rim is left smooth and displays clusters of birdseye.
