Clark Layton: Sandblasted Pear
Product Number: 002-781-0037
Similar to his Acorn renditions, Clark Layton's Pear is an organic presentation of supple curves and gentle geometry. The bowl expands toward the rim in symmetrical Pear fashion, with a cinched transition leading to an expanding shank. The mouthpiece continues the expansion briefly with the rounded stem base before stepping down to the saddle configuration of the flat cumberland bit. The sandblast itself is spectacular: Very tight and well differentiated growth rings encircle the bowl in consistent patterns to keep the eyes occupied and enraptured. With a forward-canted character, this Pear is imbued with visual forward momentum and a distinct "checkmark" profile. Slightly bent for comfort and style, with gently organic curves throughout, it's a composition promising plenty of interaction with its owner.- Chuck Stanion
