Clark Layton: Partially Sandblasted BlowFish Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-781-0052

Clark Layton's shaping style reflects a broad range, including his interpretation of classic shapes, to those demonstrating an organic, asymmetrical disposition. This compact, muscular Blowfish is a fine example of the latter. A quite compressed take on the design, the forward-leaning, stocky bowl features a panel descending the fore from the rim, through the heel and around the aft, creating the disc-like facet on the left flank. The transition is certainly tight, while the shank is plump, rounded, and supple. The American carver has juxtaposed the dark, sandblasted finish on the left flank with natural, organic plateau on the right, with the remaining smooth parts of the stummel wearing a vibrant, smooth auburn stain. It's all topped here by a yellow and black brindled stem that's adorned with an expansion ring near the base.
