Old German Clay: Markus Fohr Billiard
Product Number: 002-557-0007
One may not think that clay pipes are popular enough for a clay pipemaker to keep busy, but Markus Fohr of Montabaur, Germany, represents just the latest generation of his family to continue the tradition. Clay pipes were at one time ubiquitous, every tavern providing a good supply. It was the only way to smoke for many, as meerschaum was more expensive and briar had not yet been discovered as a pipe material. Many claim that clay pipes offer a more neutral flavor, so they are still important for those seeking to experience tobacco flavor uncolored by briar. And what better way than with a classic Billiard like this one.
Note: While all of our other pipes are photographed individually, these are not, and you may expect some reasonable cosmetic variation between the example we've photographed and the pipe you've received.
