Comoy's: Pebble Grain (337)
Product Number: 002-439-0887
Some old Comoy's shapes have changed quite a bit (the "298" has gone from being a Billiard to a Canadian), some appear to have changed some time around the 1980s, only to then later be changed back to their older form (as appears to have happened with the "87" Zulu), and some have, simply, never changed much at all. The "337" is a curious case, as at first glance the older ones appear larger and plumper of bowl — yet from estate examples, I can tell the measurements here (breadth and height) hardly differ. I suspect this modern rendition simply has a lighter style of contours up front (slimmer towards the rim and underside, and possibly perched higher relative to its transition), and possibly a bit thicker of shank — the latter actually working to make the design look trimmer as a whole, ironically.
