A rather Diplomat-esque take on the bent Apple, Comoy's "121" pairs a chubby, forward-urging bowl to a flattened oval shank and gently downturned stem. Unlike the Diplomat, though, the "121" is a much more svelte, streamlined offering, rendered in relatively compact proportions. The rotund bowl is a delight in hand and the low-set transition provides for a comfortable thumb rest.
Each year Comoy's releases a special Christmas pipe defined by a singular, festive finish offered across various shapes. For 2019, the historical marque presents a low-profile, jet-black sandblast accented by a rim stained holly green and a shimmering acrylic stem to match. The color palette calls to mind wreaths and Christmas trees, while remaining reserved and tasteful — encouraging this piece to be reached for long after the Yuletide season has passed.
