Dasha Florov: Smooth Horn with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-797-0010

A Danish inspired Horn from Dasha Florov, this piece is generously curved with a gradual flare that's reminiscent of the shape's cousin, the bent Dublin. The bowl is lenticular of form with the chamber acting as an iris, and slight ridges fore and aft that can only be felt, not seen. Dasha has also inflated the rim slightly, creating a defining ridgeline and lending more prominence to the smattering of plateau and birdseye located around the chamfered section encircling the chamber's diameter.

The grain suits the shape naturally, a testament to Florov's skill at reading the original block of briar. Long, curving tongues of flame grain lick the surface, flaring in tandem with the bowl's form. It's all accentuated by a warm stain and topped with a contrasting wedding ring of boxwood at the shank end. Another flawless piece from Dasha.
