David Huber: Sandblasted Tomato with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-755-0015
What struck me most about this Tomato shape from David Huber was its organic, almost Micke-like orientation of bowl and shank, neatly-cinched at the transition on the left and right, contrasted by the broad, palm-filling presence of the oval bowl. Despite its overtly plump shaping up front, it's in no way stolid or weighed down, and the effortless trail of shank and stem makes for an excellent visual balance in profile. It's finished in a dark, subtly warm sandblasted finish, with a bit of smooth polish at the rim and a razor-thin sliver of pale boxwood accenting the stem-base for a delicate touch of contrast.
