David Huber: Sandblasted Billiard
Product Number: 002-755-0022
American carver David Huber has presented us with some dynamic, lively pieces, often quite modernist and making use of some playful proportions to boot. Here, he's presented us with what might be the most classic rendition we've seen from him yet, being a muscular, slightly Danish take on the straight Billiard. The transition is neatly-pinched, the bowl exhibiting a light bit of forward-cant, further accentuating that classic disposition. David opted for a simple jet-black sandblast for the finish, serving to coax a remarkable, concentric display of blasted rings, and a stimulating texture, all without disrupting the form's clean linework. The ability to knock out a classic shape like this while still imbuing it with a bit of signature panache is undoubtedly a testament to a carver's skill, and David's handled it all with aplomb here.
