David Huber: Sandblasted Volcano (7221) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-755-0079

David Huber is an American carver based out of North Carolina, and his portfolio showcases a remarkable eye for gentle curves, precise line work, and stunning finishes. His work reflects an interest in both traditional and organic shapes, and this Volcano shape is an excellent example of the American carver's work. While the design is compact and snug in terms of length, coming in under five inches from end to end, this piece boasts a chamber capacity over two inches in depth, which should ensure plenty of long, luxurious smoking sessions. The form's characteristic ridgeline-wrapped base is present in this design, but softened slightly and lopsided, giving the towering bowl an asymmetrical appearance when viewed from the front. The abbreviated, ovoid shank curls gently upwards, following the trajectory of the base's ridgeline. The push-style vulcanite mouthpiece tops off the design and makes a slight downturn for a comfortable smoking posture. The stummel wears a gorgeous, black sandblast that coaxes out stacks of growth rings on all sides of the bowl. The rim and shank end are left smooth and stained a dark chestnut color for a touch of visual and tactile contrast. It's a stylish, eye-catching design, and it will no doubt become a favorite among any collector's rotation.
