David Huber: Sandblasted Low Bent Dublin (6322) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-755-0092
David Huber is an American carver who takes inspiration from the Danish and Japanese pipe-making traditions, and as such, his work tends be quite organic, prioritizing sculpted lines and precise shaping. Huber began making pipes full-time in 2014 and received guidance in his early days from carvers like Jeff Gracik, Nanna Ivarsson, and Alex Florov.
This bent Dublin is a rather unique rendition of the classic shape, as it's presented in snug, Nosewarmer dimensions and displays a strikingly dynamic profile. A lifted heel thrusts the broad, low-slung bowl into visual prominence and lends an active posture to the overall form. The shank nicely mirrors the bowl's build by flaring outward and broadening rapidly as it extends from the transition. A demurely curved stem tops off the design and encourages a comfortable smoking posture while adding a touch of lithe fluidity to the composition. A crisp sandblast dresses the stummel and brings a rugged definition to the briar's natural grain, save for the innermost rim and the shank face, which are both smoothly polished and stained a lighter color for contrast.
