Dirk Heinemann: Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Zebrawood Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-793-0006
Though he didn't mention it when we talked to Dirk recently, this bent Dublin calls to mind some of the work of Poul Ilsted — especially in the firm lines of the paneled shank and bolder style of heel. It's a neat play on geometry, complementing those pronounced lines with a strong forward cant and a good bit of extra height lent to the bowl. That extra height has also afforded Heinemann with that much more canvas upon which to showcase some stunning and neatly stacked ring grain, further playing into the playfully structured form. He's accented it all with a lovely bit of zebrawood and a curious mouthpiece of white vulcanite. Great piece!
