Dirk Heinemann: Sandblasted Baby Dora with Maple Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-793-0010
The Dora is one of Dirk Heinemann's signature shapes, designed on paper long before he took it to briar. Originally designed through experimentation — specifically, tweaking the proportions of a shank relative to a squat, Tomato bowl — it features a tall, blade-like bowl that goes the opposite direction of most, emphasizing its height rather than breadth. And while the previous rendition of the shape we've seen was quite handsome, with plenty of plump, muscular curvature, I'm quite fond of this Baby Dora — a trim, ultra-compact rendition, petite enough to slip into a pocket at a moment's notice. Despite the reduction in size, however, it remains as dynamic as ever, its shank-end stretching far above the line of the transition, while a teardrop line wraps around the fore of the bowl in a smooth, easy gesture. Quite the impressive piece.
