Dirk Heinemann: Smooth Architect with Baywood Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-793-0015
Here Dirk Heinemann's penchant for wilder, more overtly playful designs, à la Werner Mummert, shows itself once more, though realized through Dirk's undeniably sophisticated lens. A bit more sleek than the previous Architect rendition we received from the carver, this fellow is defined by its geometrically-inclined, forward-ebbing look in profile, looking like a modernist take on the Volcano, only flipped upside down. The "rim" of the form becomes the pipe's base, while the "heel" becomes the forward-extending bowl and chamber, framed by delicate, contrast-stained birdseye. There's ample space for feathery flame underneath and all around too, complemented by a slender baywood accent at the shank's end. Lovely stuff.
