Dirk Heinemann: Sandblasted Cherrywood with Bamboo Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-793-0035
Dirk Heinemann has a penchant for more compact designs, and his portfolio reflects an appreciation for nosewarmers of particularly organic style, from Fish, Fig, and Egg renditions to others marked by bamboo or asymmetry. One such naturalesque piece is presented here: a sturdy-sitting Cherrywood imbued with organicism and asymmetrical shaping cues. Most readily evident is the stout, bamboo shank extension from out of the raised transition. The densely knuckled accent curls slightly upward and flares toward the stem, the material's craggy nodes adding texture to the composition. In similar fashion, the bowl flares and curls forward, matching the shaping of the shank for tasteful balance, and the right side rises higher than the left, canting the rim and creating an asymmetrical motif. That said, Dirk shaped it with perfect balance, allowing it to stand upright atop the flattened heel. Conveniently compact and lightweight, this is a versatile piece of striking design, and the color palette beautifully contrasts the light hues of the bamboo against the stummel's dark crimson sandblast.
