Dirk Heinemann: Partially Sandblasted Bent Egg with Ox Bone Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-793-0042
Smooth from a right profile, and sandblasted from the left, this bent Egg from Dirk Heinemann presents two different characters for an intense juxtaposition of color and texture, each providing ample visual stimulation for any pipe smoker. The crisp edging of the ridgelines is not to be underestimated, it defines the edging between the two finishes in crisp fashion. The end of the shank echoes the scallop of the bowl with an inverted curve capped by ox bone, which offers additional texture and hue.
The shaping of the bowl is organic and smooth in curvature, but the precision of the ridgeline that traverses the midpoint of the pipe is perhaps the most fetching aspect of the design, running through the center top and bottom to separate the smooth and sandblasted aspects. Well balanced and endlessly engrossing, it's a pipe that will surely be a centerpiece of any collection.
