Dirk Heinemann: Sandblasted Sitting Fig with Bamboo Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-793-0049

This Fig rendition from Dirk Heinemann blends design elements of the two other Fig designs we've previously received from the German carver. The general shape itself is a take on one of Adam Davidson's signature designs, which employs an often asymmetrical, high-waisted and rounded, almost Acorn-like bowl with a distinct spur along the heel that's usually flattened. Heinemann represents that form well in this example, with the rim undulating and asymmetrical for an organic disposition. It's gently sandblasted and dark-stained, drawing focus to the two knuckles of bamboo that extend the shank and calling to mind this earlier rendition from the German artisan. Unlike that former piece, though, this iteration features a tight transition that poises the shank and stem in an almost completely vertical stance, not unlike a different previous example. Such shaping affords this pipe perfect standing balance, sitting upright upon the flattened heel spur. It offers the jaw-hanging comfort of a bent pipe with the practicality of a desk pipe, making for one versatile piece of exceptional artisan quality and design.
