Dirk Heinemann: Sandblasted Architect with Lilac Wood Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-793-0050

Though not a design we often see from Dirk Heinemann, the Architect is a signature Freehand form from the German carver that presents a distinctly recognizable profile. One could call it a stylized Poker rendition, but that would be an oversimplification that wouldn't do justice to Dirk's creative vision. Yes, this Architect sits upright upon its flattened heel, like the traditional Poker; however, the bowl is markedly different. Rather than a stummel distinctly formed by two aspects — shank and bowl — this Architect is more a singular form that's completely seamless in its lines and cohesive as a composition. What could be considered the shank is basically the aft side of the bowl tapering from the rim, while the underside curling upward from the flattened heel. The entire design gradual tapers through the stem to the button, artfully incorporating the mouthpiece into the overall design. Further enhancing this piece's appeal is its compact size at less than four inches in length. It's a pocket pipe of exceptional style and striking shaping, with the jet-black sandblast contrasted by the smooth-polished rim and pale accent of lilac wood along the stem base.
