Dirk Heinemann: Partially Sandblasted Reed Leaf Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-793-0097
While Dirk Heinemann is known for his experimental style and distinctive approach to pipe making, the German artisan never loses sight of the functionality and engineering required to make a pipe truly excel. This piece is in keeping with what we're used to seeing from Heinemann, and it showcases his aptitude for crisp lines, supple curves, and rich finishes.
Like Heinemann's Architect shape, this Reed Leaf is a sculptural design marked by a pronounced, arcing curvature. That said, while the Architect possesses a broad, flat heel, this Reed Leaf boasts a pointed, spur-like base, which lends the entire composition a semi-crescent profile, reinforcing the shape's elegant contours. The shank-and-stem arrangement tapers and slenderizes the pipe's aft side and keeps the pipe's footprint compact, with the total form measuring less than four inches long. A striking dual finish dresses this piece and sees a rich, glossy smooth finish juxtaposed against a dark, craggy sandblast.
