Il Duca: Sandblasted Morta Billiard with Horn (B)

Product Number: 002-427-0432

Max Rimensi of Il Duca is a fan of morta, the Italian carver's portfolio being full of pipes fashioned from the dense material. He fashions a variety of shapes, with this style of traditional Billiard among the most prevalent. The silhouette adheres beautifully to the pipe chart standard, and the bowl is lent some slight plumpness to soften the profile and contribute to a more substantial feel in hand. What separates this particular rendition from his others, though, is that Max has accented the shank here with a mount of horn — while Rimensi is no stranger to the material, he doesn't often pair it with his morta pieces. That said, it suits the dark, sandblasted finish handsomely, the ebony hues of the horn matching with the stain, highlighting the creamy tones.
