Il Duca: Sandblasted Cherrywood with Boxwood (B) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-427-0595

The first time we received this Cherrywood shape from Max Rimensi, the artisan who makes Il Duca pipes, was in 2014, and the vast majority of the Cherrywoods we have seen from him since hew closely to this design. Displaying the flattened heel and high-kicking shank endemic to the shape, this interpretation replaces the typically cylindrical or flaring bowl with a tapered appearance, the aft aspect slightly more so than the fore, both surging forward as they race toward a canted rim. This one features a bit more of a rakish air to the rim than some, nearly matching the angle of the heel for a lively profile, while the shank flares to a trim accent of boxwood. It's a signature rendition from Max, one which his loyal worldwide following clearly enjoys.

The energetic appeal of this pipe is amplified by a brilliant Bengal contrast stain, the orange and black hues working in concert with a rippling sandblast to accentuate growth rings climbing the tall bowl. A svelte vulcanite mouthpiece pairs well with the stummel, completing an elegant S-curve as it arcs down gently to support a comfortable smoking posture. Stunning in hand and a stylish desk pipe, this is one you don't want to miss out on.
